An acquaintance recently asked me, “What do you do?” For a minute, I had to digest and think about how I will answer it. Suddenly, it was the most challenging question to answer. “I was a special education teacher,” I replied.
After our chit-chat, I realized I could have just told her, “I run an employment facilitation agency which is now temporarily closed because of the pandemic,” but that would mean a lot of explanations too. Or I could have told her, “I am an independent life, health, and accident insurance agent,” but that could also repel her, as most people do when they hear the word insurance with “No, I don’t want to buy!” mindset.
I shook my head and patted my back for having answered just right.
I am a teacher by profession anyway. I still hold valid licenses, and I can always choose to go back to the education world.
But the question, considering all the weight I have on my shoulders right now, more than – do I want to, is, if God permits.
In the meantime, I am giving myself until the end of this year to discern and test waters. I am also taking this time to create space, hoping that I’ll eventually be more in-tuned and decided.
I do love, however, that I am back writing. Ecstatic is the word!
And realized – yeah, I should have just told her, I am a blogger, with a big grin on my face, and it will make all the difference!
